One of the starting points for this experimental film was a tattered super-8 SM porn film which Dietmar Brehm was offered in Amsterdam in 1991. He says he was unable to refuse the fascinating material +!+ extra cruel because of its amateurism +!+ with pictures of a blond woman tied down. He juxtaposed this with shots of an operation. Apart from this found footage, Brehm used several shots he had made himself. The mixture of porn and medical material boosts the experience evoked by watching such unpleasant scenes.Brehm has said that he often wonders whether he makes ‘art films’, or whether they are really horror films. And one of his hypotheses is that what he shows is basically on television every day; only the presentation differs.
