One Take Only

Mak, an insignificant street urchin in Bangkok, dreams of being a tough gangster. He hangs around in the endless sprawling city, earns some money as drugs runner, but has no prospects whatsoever of a better future. One day he meets a young prostitute, who turns out to live nearby and they fall in love. After he has delivered a large batch of drugs to a rich man on the other side of town, they can suddenly afford new clothes, luxury mobile phones and expensive sunglasses. Made reckless, Mak and his partners use the girl for an even bigger delivery to the same rich man. But then everything goes terribly wrong…Bangkok Dangerous, the thriller that Oxide Pang directed with his brother Danny, was selected last year for the Tiger Award Competition and has just been released in Dutch cinemas. One Take Only is again an exciting thriller with very dynamic camerawork, fast and elegant editing and an emphatic thrusting soundtrack. Of the young generation of Thai directors who are making an international name for themselves, the Pang Brothers have the most distinct style and should be watched individually too.
