Upland BB Fighting Follies
This extremely raw video compilation looks at the early backyard wrestling movement in southern California. Jamie compiled and mixed together both his own video documentation with the footage shot bij the teenage wrestlers who videotaped themselves for their own purposes to watch, circulate, and trade amongst their small circle of friends. The two perspectives of documentation collide into one universe without any borders as if the viewer enters the crude and apocalyptic arena of the American suburban landscape. Jamie made this tape strictly as a personal study for himself during the years he spent researching the backyard wrestling phenomenon. He later filmed and realised the epic silent black-and-white Super8 film BB in 2000.
