Architect Carlo Scarpa’s mental legacy for Venice is illustrated by blueprints, illustrations and amazing 16mm footage in Elephant Bearing an Obelisk. Scarpa refused to design during the fascist dictatorship (1922-1943). His post-war work created modest, modernist oases in this phenomenal city.
