Moscas

Alberto Machi has the world in his hands. He has everything that a man like him could desire: money, an executive position, a beautiful family and a lover. But when he finds a corpse amongst his possessions, he’s struck with the realisation of his vulnerability. Over twenty-four hours Machi will embark on a desperate ride and in an unstoppable dramatic crescendo will find out who is coming after him.

Shot in a barrio of Buenos Aires reminiscent of a Golden Age, noirish Los Angeles, Moscas goes beyond the classic thriller to deliver a precise and unapologetic character study. Machi is the ultimate embodiment of an anti-hero: utterly dislikable, a power-thirsty businessman ready to prey on everyone and everything for his own benefit. His persona resonates notably against the Argentine background, with its dramatic history of dictatorship and liberalism induced crises brought to the fore. Yet, thanks to an elaborate and precise script rich with flashbacks and coup de théâtre, it is impossible to anticipate Machi’s next move. Moscas is a gripping, dark thriller with its claws dug firmly into reality.
