Adam Khalil

Adam KHALIL (1988, United States) is an artist and filmmaker based in Brooklyn. He was raised in Sault Ste. Marie (Michigan) as a member of the Ojibway tribe. He received his Bachelor degree from Bard College. He is a core contributor to the New Red Order (NRO) and co-founder of the COUSINS Collective that supports Indigenous artists expanding the form of film. With his artwork, he tries to subvert traditional forms of ethnography through humour, relation, and transgression. His works have been exhibited at MoMA, Sundance Film Festival, Tate Modern, and Toronto Biennial, among other institutions. He received various fellowships and grants, including Jerome Artist Fellowship, Cinereach, the Gates Millennium Scholarship, and Alpert Award in the Arts. He co-directed Empty Metal (2018), Culture Capture: Terminal Addition (2019), AIOU (2020), Never Settle (2020), Nosferasta: First Bite (2021) with Bayley Sweitzer.
